Garage door SEO that wins the "spring just broke" search
Most garage door jobs start with a stressed homeowner, a door that won't open and a phone search. Garage door SEO is about being one of the first trustworthy names they see on Google Maps, with clear answers and a phone number they can tap right away.
Two kinds of searches, two strategies
Garage door companies see two very different customers online. Your SEO needs to serve both.
Urgent repair searches
"garage door repair near me", "broken garage door spring", "garage door won't open". The person needs someone today. Google Maps results and a visible phone number win these; long articles don't.
Planned purchase searches
"new garage door cost", "insulated garage door", "garage door opener installation". The person compares options over days or weeks. Detailed service pages with price ranges, styles and photos win these.
Google Business Profile comes first
For urgent repair searches, the map results usually get the attention. Google says local ranking is based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence; you can't change distance, but you can work on the other two.
Garage door repair is a category where fake listings have been a problem, which makes real photos, a consistent business name and genuine reviews even more important for standing out as legitimate.
Service pages that rank and convert
Instead of one "Services" page, give each major job its own page that answers what customers ask about it.
| Page | What it should answer | Main button |
|---|---|---|
| Broken spring repair | Is it safe to open the door? How fast can you come? Rough cost range, torsion vs extension springs | Call now |
| Opener repair & installation | Repair vs replace, brands you service, smart openers | Call / quote |
| New garage doors | Styles, insulation, price ranges, timeline, warranty basics | Request a quote |
| Cables, rollers, off-track doors | Safety warning, what you fix on the first visit | Call now |
| Commercial doors (if you do them) | Door types, maintenance plans, response times | Request a quote |
Reviews that mention the job
Reviews that describe the actual work, like "replaced both torsion springs the same afternoon", help new customers trust you and help Google understand what you do.
When to ask
Right after the door works again, while the customer is relieved. Text a direct review link before the tech leaves the driveway.
How to reply
Thank good reviewers by name and job type. Answer bad reviews calmly with what you did or will do to fix it. Never offer discounts in exchange for reviews; Google doesn't allow incentivized reviews.
Covering several towns without spam pages
What gets you in trouble
- Dozens of town pages with the name swapped and nothing else different
- Fake addresses or virtual offices in towns you don't operate from
- Keyword-stuffed business names like "Best Garage Door Repair Springfield"
What works instead
- A clear service-area section listing the towns you really cover
- Town pages only when you have real, specific content there, like local jobs with photos
- Your real business name, consistent everywhere

Garage door SEO questions
How do garage door companies rank higher on Google Maps?
Choose the right primary category, list every service, show accurate hours and service areas, add real photos, and build a steady flow of genuine reviews. Your website should match your profile's name, phone and services.
Should I create a page for every town I serve?
Only if each page has genuinely useful, specific content such as local jobs with photos. Near-identical town pages can be treated as doorway pages by Google.
How long does garage door SEO take?
Profile improvements can show within weeks, while new website pages usually take a few months to rank, depending on competition in your area.
Is SEO or Google Ads better for garage door repair?
Ads bring calls quickly but stop when you stop paying; SEO builds steadier calls over time. Many garage door companies use both, with ads covering urgent searches while SEO grows.
