SEO services for small businesses
Good SEO for a small business isn't magic or a mystery package. It's steady, specific work: fixing what stops Google from understanding your site, building the pages people actually search for, and earning a few real mentions. I do that every month, and I show you exactly what I did.
What you get each month
One clear monthly scope, so you always know what you're paying for. No "SEO points", no vague hours.
Every month
- Keyword research for your services and service area
- On-page optimization: titles, headings, content, internal links, schema
- Technical fixes: speed, indexing, mobile issues, Search Console errors
- 2 new SEO pages or articles, written for people first
- A few relevant links and mentions earned the honest way
- Google Search Console monitoring
- A plain-English monthly report: what I did, what moved, what's next
What to expect, and when
SEO is the slowest marketing channel to start and often the cheapest to keep. Here's a realistic picture of how it usually unfolds for a small business site. Every site and market is different.
| Stage | What I'm doing | What you'll usually notice |
|---|---|---|
| Month 1 | Audit, keyword research, technical and on-page fixes | Cleaner Search Console, better-looking search results for your pages |
| Months 2β3 | New pages, internal links, first mentions and links | More of your pages showing in search, often for longer, specific searches first |
| Months 4β6 | Building on what Google is already testing you for | Clicks and enquiries from search starting to add up, depending on competition |
| Ongoing | New content, refreshing pages, more authority | Steadier results that don't stop the moment you stop paying, unlike ads |
The shortcuts that backfire
Cheap SEO packages often lean on tactics that can get a site demoted. I don't use any of these.
Buying links
Paid links, private blog networks and "1,000 backlinks for $50" break Google's spam policies. They can do more harm than good.
Mass-produced pages
Hundreds of near-identical pages for every city or keyword variation. Google treats this as scaled content or doorway pages.
Keyword stuffing
Writing for a robot makes pages worse for people, and modern search is good at noticing.
Fake reviews or locations
Fake addresses and bought reviews put your Google Business Profile at risk. Not worth it.
SEO, local SEO or both?
They overlap, but they're aimed at different parts of the results page.
| Local SEO ($199/mo) | SEO ($349/mo) | |
|---|---|---|
| Main goal | Showing in the Google Maps pack nearby | Ranking your website pages in organic results |
| Main work | Google Business Profile, citations, reviews, local pages | Website content, technical health, new pages, links |
| Best for | Shops, salons, trades, clinics serving one area | Businesses with many services, wider areas or online customers |
| Pairs well with | SEO, once the map side is strong | Local SEO for any business with a local customer base |
Not sure? Local SEO is usually the better first step for a single-location business. You can always add the other later.
The first 30 days
Access
You give me access to Google Search Console and your website. If they don't exist yet, I set them up.
Audit
A full check of indexing, speed, mobile, page titles, duplicate content and what you already rank for.
Plan
A short list of the searches worth winning first, and which existing pages to improve versus build new.
Fix & publish
Fixes go live, the first new pages are written, and you get your first report at the end of the month.
Website too old or slow to fix? A new website for $397 is sometimes cheaper than months of patching.
SEO questions
How much do SEO services cost for a small business?
Monthly SEO from freelancers and agencies commonly ranges from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. My SEO package is $349 a month, month to month, with a fixed list of work each month.
How long does SEO take to work?
Technical and on-page fixes can show in Search Console within weeks, but meaningful growth in search traffic usually takes several months, depending on your competition and how strong your site already is.
Can you guarantee first page rankings?
No. Google itself says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking. I guarantee the work: the fixes, pages and links listed in each monthly report.
Do I need to sign a long contract?
No. It's month to month. SEO does reward consistency, so I recommend giving it at least a few months before judging it.
Who writes the new pages?
I do, based on your services and the questions your customers ask. You review them before they go live, because you know your business best.
Do you build backlinks?
I earn a small number of relevant links and mentions each month, like local directories, partners, suppliers and genuinely useful content. I don't buy links or use link networks.
