Marketing for small businesses in Australia

Australia is only a few hours ahead of me, so my working day overlaps most of yours. I build websites and run local marketing for Australian tradies, cafes, salons and clinics remotely, priced clearly and set up in your name.

Common situations

Sound like your business?

These are the situations I'd expect to hear most from Australian owners, and what I'd do about each.

"Most of my work comes from word of mouth"

Great, but people still Google you before they call. A fast website with your services, service areas and reviews turns referrals into bookings. Website, $397.

"I'm on Google Maps but nowhere near the top"

That's local SEO: categories, services, photos, listings and a steady flow of reviews. Local SEO, $199/month.

"I want jobs this month, not next year"

Search ads catch people who need you right now. Google Ads, $250/month plus ad budget, paid to Google in your account.

"I've got a list of past customers I never contact"

Email and SMS can bring them back, as long as they've agreed to hear from you. See the Spam Act points below.

Australian rules

The Spam Act, in plain English

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) enforces the Spam Act 2003, which covers commercial emails and texts. Its rules come down to three things. General information only, not legal advice.

RuleWhat it means for youHow I set it up
ConsentPeople must have agreed to receive your messages (express, or inferred in limited cases). The ACMA prefers express consent, and you need to be able to prove it.Sign-up forms with clear wording, and a record of each opt-in
IdentifyMessages must clearly say who they're fromYour business name and contact details in every email and text
UnsubscribeEvery message needs a working, simple opt-out that's actioned quicklyUnsubscribe link and STOP option, processed promptly

Time zones

Hours that actually overlap

Bangladesh is behind the Australian east coast by a few hours, so my morning is your late morning or early afternoon. For Western Australia the gap is smaller still.

Book a call on my calendar; it shows slots in your local time.

Good to know

  • BossRise is remote. No Australian office, and I won't pretend otherwise
  • Prices are fixed in US dollars; your bank converts to AUD
  • You can reach me by email, WhatsApp, a booked call, or my US number (international rates may apply)
  • Everything is set up in your name: domain, website, Google profile and ad accounts
What I'd do first

A simple plan for an Australian small business

Website

Fast on a phone, with services, service areas, your ABN and contact details, and a quote or booking button on every page.

Google profile

The right categories, real photos, your service area and a review link you can text to customers.

Reviews

Ask every happy customer, reply to every review, and never offer rewards in exchange.

One paid channel

Search ads for urgent jobs, or Facebook and Instagram ads for offers, once the basics convert.

FAQ

Questions from Australian businesses

Do you work with Australian tradies?

Yes. Trades are a good fit: a website with a quote form and service areas, a strong Google Business Profile, reviews, and search ads in the busy season.

Can I text my customers about specials?

Only customers who have consented, and every text must identify your business and include a way to unsubscribe, under the Spam Act. I set campaigns up that way by default.

Why are your prices in US dollars?

So they stay the same for every client. Your bank converts to Australian dollars at payment.

How do we keep in touch?

Email, WhatsApp, a booked video call at a time that suits you, or my US number for calls and texts. I reply within a day.

Can you help me rank in my area on Google Maps?

Yes, for the area you genuinely serve. Map rankings depend heavily on where the searcher is and on your reviews, so nobody can guarantee a position, but a complete profile and steady reviews make a real difference.
