Marketing for small businesses in the United Kingdom

UK time is only five or six hours behind mine, which makes the UK the easiest place for me to work with. I build websites and run local marketing for UK small businesses remotely, with calls during your working day.

Why it works

Same working day, different country

Bangladesh is ahead of the UK, so my afternoon overlaps your morning. That means you can book a call at a normal time and usually get replies the same day.

Prices are fixed in US dollars. Your bank or card converts to pounds at payment.

UK rules to know

Email, texts and cookies under PECR

The UK has stricter marketing rules than the US. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) sit alongside UK GDPR. This is not legal advice, but these are the points I build around.

  1. Marketing emails and texts to individuals usually need consentThe ICO's guidance says you normally need consent before sending electronic marketing to individuals, with a narrow "soft opt-in" exception for your own existing customers about similar products. Bought lists don't qualify. See the ICO's guidance on direct marketing using electronic mail.
  2. Every message needs a way to opt outIncluding your soft opt-in customers, from the very first message.
  3. Non-essential cookies generally need consentAdvertising and tracking cookies usually need a clear opt-in, and pre-ticked boxes don't count. The rules were updated by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, so check the ICO's current cookie guidance for analytics.
  4. Business-to-business email is treated differentlyThe ICO notes that marketing to corporate subscribers doesn't need the same consent, though sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals.
What that means for your website: if we add a Meta Pixel or Google Ads tracking, your site needs a proper cookie banner that asks first. I set that up as part of the build when tracking is used.

Good fits

UK businesses I'm set up for

Owner-run local businesses where a few more enquiries a week make a real difference: cafes and restaurants, barbers and salons, trades, clinics, gyms and detailers.

Usually a good fit

  • No website, or one that's slow and hard to use on a phone
  • A Google profile with few recent reviews
  • Owners who prefer one person to talk to
  • Anyone who wants to see the work before paying

Probably not a fit

  • Businesses that need regular face-to-face meetings
  • Projects needing someone on site for filming or photos
  • Anyone wanting to email bought lists
  • Large companies needing a full in-house-style team
FAQ

Questions from UK businesses

Do you work with businesses in the UK?

Yes. I work remotely with UK small businesses, and the time difference makes it easy to book calls during your working day.

Do you charge in pounds?

Prices are fixed in US dollars. Your bank or card provider converts to pounds when you pay, so the exact amount depends on the exchange rate that day.

Can you send marketing emails to my customers under UK rules?

Yes, to people who have consented or who fall under the soft opt-in as your existing customers, with an unsubscribe option in every message. I don't use bought lists. Check the ICO guidance for your situation.

Will my website need a cookie banner?

If it uses advertising or tracking cookies, such as a Meta Pixel, it generally needs consent first. A basic site without those may not. I'll tell you which applies when we build it.

Do you have a UK office or phone number?

No UK office. You can reach me by email, WhatsApp, a booked video call, or my US number for texts and calls.
