Website content that sounds like you and sells
Good copy answers what a customer is really asking, in words they'd use, and makes the next step obvious. I write website pages, SEO articles and profile copy for small businesses, researched and edited by hand.
Copy for the pages that do the selling
Website copy
Homepage, about, contact and the call-to-action text on every button. Clear about what you do, where, for whom and what it costs.
Service pages
One page per main service, built around the questions people ask before they call: price, process, timing, what's included, what happens next.
SEO articles
Guides and answer pages on the questions your customers search, planned around real keyword research so each one has a reason to exist.
Profiles & emails
Google Business Profile descriptions and services, plus email and text copy that sounds human, not like a template.
Research first, writing second
- Short interviewA call or voice notes on WhatsApp: how you work, what customers ask, what makes you different. Most of the best lines come from how owners talk.
- Keyword and competitor researchWhat people actually search for, which questions show up, and what the pages already ranking cover (and miss).
- Outline for approvalYou see the structure before I write, so we agree on what each page should do.
- Draft, edit, fact-checkWritten for readers first, then checked for accuracy, clarity and search basics like titles, headings and FAQ.
- Your reviewYou approve or request changes. Nothing goes live with a claim you can't stand behind.
How I use AI, honestly
You deserve a straight answer to this question.
I use AI tools for research support and first drafts on some pieces, the same way many writers now do. Every page is then rewritten, edited and fact-checked by me, and built on your real details, prices and experience. AI can't know those.
Google's position is that it focuses on the quality and helpfulness of content rather than how it's produced, while using automation mainly to manipulate rankings is against its spam policies. See Google's guidance on AI-generated content and creating helpful, people-first content.
That's why I won't mass-produce near-identical pages for you. It's the fastest way to waste money and risk your site.
What changes when copy gets better
Illustrative examples of the kind of rewrites I make. Not from a real client.
| Typical copy | Rewritten | Why it works better |
|---|---|---|
| "Welcome to our website! We are passionate about quality." | "Same-week roof repairs in Charlotte. Free photo quote in 24 hours." | Says what, where and the next step in one line |
| "We offer a wide range of services." | A list of services, each with a "from" price and a link to its own page | Answers the price question before people leave to ask someone else |
| "Contact us for more information." | "Text a photo of the job on WhatsApp and get a price today." | A specific, low-effort action |
| A 2,000-word blog post on "the history of plumbing" | "Is a running toilet an emergency? What to check before you call" | A real question customers search, with a natural link to your service |
Things that hurt small business copy
Keyword stuffing
Repeating "best plumber in Charlotte" ten times reads badly to people and doesn't help with Google either. I use the words customers use, naturally.
Claims you can't prove
"#1 rated" or "guaranteed results" without proof erodes trust and can break advertising rules in some industries.
Thin pages for every keyword
Ten near-identical pages for small keyword variations can be treated as spam. One strong page usually ranks for many related searches.
Generic filler
Sentences that could be on any competitor's site. If it doesn't sound like your business, I rewrite it until it does.
How pricing works
Every project is different, so I quote after a free audit of your current website copy.
| Project | What affects the price |
|---|---|
| Website copy refresh | Number of pages, how much research and interviewing is needed |
| New service pages | Number of services, technical or regulated topics (legal, medical, financial) |
| SEO articles | Length, research depth, how many per month |
| Profile and email copy | Usually small, often bundled with other work |
Building a new site? Basic page copy is part of the $397 website. Writing is quoted separately when you need deeper pages or ongoing articles.
Content writing questions
What is in the free audit?
A 5–10 minute screen-recorded video where I review your current website copy, Google Business Profile and key pages, and point out what's unclear, missing or costing you enquiries. It's free and you keep it whether or not you hire me.
Do you write SEO blog posts?
Yes, but only on topics with a real reason to exist: questions your customers search, planned with keyword research. One genuinely useful article beats ten thin ones.
Do you use AI to write content?
I use AI tools for research support and some first drafts, then rewrite, edit and fact-check everything myself using your real details. You get content that reads like you, not like a template.
Can you write for regulated industries like law or healthcare?
Yes, with care. I draft from your notes and common client questions, avoid claims you can't support, and you or your compliance contact approve everything before it's published.
Who owns the content?
You do. Once paid, the copy is yours to use anywhere.
